Microsoft Windows Installation
The Windows desktop application may be either installed and updated by the end user, or by a systems administrator through Active Directory. If the Active Directory installation is used, no action by the end user is needed for the installation. However, even in the case of installation by an Active Directory administrator, the end user still needs to activate the application as described later in this section.
Depending on the user policies implemented on your system, your system administrator may make different versions of the installation file for the Windows application available, for example MSI (Microsoft Installer) installation files for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows versions, as well as versions that require administrator rights for a successful installation, or can be installed by a user without these rights. For 64_noadmin.msi or 86_noadmin.msi, noadmin means possibility to install without administrator rights. The packages that require different user rights for the installation differ also in respect to the folders in which the application is installed.
.msi is an installer package file format, used by Windows.
Outlook plugin is installed with MSI installer with and without admin rights.
-
The noadmin.msi is installed in C:\Users[user]\AppData\Local and C:\Users[user]\AppData\Roaming
-
The .msi and .exe is installed in C:\Program Files (x86)
The 64-bit package exists only for the 64-bit Outlook plugin, while the desktop application itself is 32-bit.
